Electricity Meters

Meters for DIN rail

ABB offers electricity meters that provide solutions for a variety of needs and applications. In order to make it easy for the customer to select the right meter, functions have been bundled in five functionality levels, ranging from steel to platinum. Steel offers the most basic functions. Each additional level adds further functionality to the meter. Each level above steel contains the complete functionality of all levels preceding it, i.e. a platinum meter will contain all functions described in the following table.

Active energy
The meter measures active energy only.
Class 1
The meter complies with the IEC Class 1 accuracy standard which means that they will measure an error of less than 1%.
Pulse output/Alarm
The meter can be configured to either have a pulse output or an alarm. The configuration can be changed at any time.
Import/Export
Meters always measure imported energy. The Import/Export function enables a meter to measure exported energy as well.
Tariffs controlled by inputs or communication
Meters may be equipped with up to 4 tariffs. The tariffs are controlled either via communication,
or by 1 or 2 tariff inputs.
Fixed I/O
The meter has 2 inputs and 2 outputs in a fixed configuration. Inputs can, for example, be used for counting pulses or reading the status from other external devices.
Optional Class 0.5 for transformer connected meters
The IEC accuracy class 0.5 is available as an option for transformer connected.
Internal clock
The internal clock makes it possible to add more advanced time controlled functions to the meter.
Tariffs controlled by internal clock
Tariffs are controlled by the internal clock instead of using outputs or communication.
Previous values
The meter stores all energy registers and input counter values together with a date/time stamp at the end of a user defined period. The meter also stores all total values and all tariff registers.
Demand
The meter measures and stores the maximum and minimum values during a time interval for a set of selected quantities. The values are stored in the meter together with a date/time stamp.
Event log
The meter will log events that occur during operation together with a date/time stamp.
Reactive energy
The meter measures both active and reactive energy.
Load profile
The meter stores energy consumption at user defined time intervals. A snap shot of the selected register is stored periodically according to the length of the interval.
Harmonics
The meter measures harmonics for voltages and currents up to the 16th harmonic. The results are stored in a register that can be read either directly on the display or via communication.
Configurable I/O
The meter is equipped with four I/O points that can be individually configured as inputs or outputs.
